Americans have no problem with sex and swearing, even in their sci-fi. (Corporate overlords, on the other hand, just might.) But Torchwood without the sex and swearing might as well just merge with The Sarah Jane Adventures, then. Sweet Holy Cow. Now I feel bad for not getting into Torchwood....
