I've tried pernod and coke, which wouldn't be that much different, and that was disgusting. I only ever drink spirits straight, and absinthe is no exception. It took a while to grow on me though, as the first time I tried it I thought it was far too bitter.
Well I abhor anything aniseed-y, but needs must and all that..! This is horrifically sweet, even for me. I imagine if you mixed it with that Vanilla Coke and put two drops of it into the water supply, everyone who drank it would become diabetic! I tend to drink my vodka neat, have done ever since a bad experience at 15 with some Coke which gave me a terrible headache the morning after ;) The only exception was with the 'Gold' stuff I had which was 60% proof so I needed to dilute it so as not to waste it. Just ask jo_ham up there! heheheh
Yes, it is rather sweet, isn't it? There is the bitter aftertaste too though, which is what put me off at first. Still, it does contain poison, so it isn't surprising!
